Wildfowlers at the County Show
Thursday 13th September 2012. Five members of The Westmorland Wildfowlers Association manned the W.W.A. stand in the Country Pursuits marquee. Kevin & Suzi Bunting and Colin Dawson did the morning shift, while Shawy and Stotty did the afternoon. We had 'Guess the number of cartridges in the pot' (thanks to Suzi B.) and a 'Find the Duck and Goose Word Search quiz' for the children who visited the stand. Ian Valentine was asked to give a wildfowling demonstration in the arena in the afternoon using some of the decoys from the W.W.A. display stand. Our 'mallard nest tube' with resident decoy was on display again which created much interest to the visitors especially when combined with a few blasts from Stotty's mallard call. It certainly grabbed the attention of passing visitors.
